This fortified tawny is Succulent and smooth, this tremendously complex tawny is layered with luscious flavours of raisin, plum and citrus with hints of chocolate and spice. Spicy fruit cake or liquid candy bar.

Palate:
Succulent and smooth, this tremendously complex tawny is layered with luscious flavours of raisin, plum and citrus with hints of chocolate and spice. Spicy fruit cake or liquid candy bar.
Cellaring:
Cellar for as long as you like – Tawny does not age like a normal wine but also does not change or mature with time.
Winemaking:
Components for this style are carefully fermented and then fortified with high strength grape spirit at pre-determined sugar levels to arrest fermentation. These components are then clarified and adjusted before the blending process. Blending is then skillfully and carefully carried out to produce this fresh fruit driven tawny style. Up to forty components can be blended together in this style and it is here that the winemaker’s blending skill is utilised in balancing fruit and palate structure.
Background:
Richard Hamilton is a fifth generation winemaking descendant from one of Australia’s oldest winemaking families. As a small boy his father used to call him “Richard, Coeur de Leon”, meaning “Richard, the Lion Heart”. Richard has been making wine in McLaren Vale since 1972 overseeing a wonderful selection of vineyards, the oldest of which date back to 1892.
