VINTAGE 2024

Chardonnay has an extensive history in Coonawarra and at Leconfield, where vines are planted in a lower dip of the
vineyard. Here, full advantage is taken of the cool-climate attributes of both the region and site.

Fruit delivers crisp and fresh structural acidity, an underlying minerality and a combined citrus and stone fruit flavour spectrum.

A modern style Chardonnay with ripe tropical fruits overlaid with complexed yeast aromas and a subtle background of vanilla from subtle use of French oak. Medium body with persistent flavours finishing with a bright, fine, mineral acidity.

Alcohol by Vol.:
Alcohol: 12.5%
Vintage:
2024
Bottle size:
750mL
Bouquet:
Fresh cut nectarine. Fragrant and fruit driven with a subtle influence of French oak.
Palate:
This Chardonnay has lovely elegance with persistent stone fruit flavours. Dry in style, medium bodied and finishes with a clean, bright, soft acidity.
Cellaring:
5-6 years of aging will provide a nutty, rounded complexity but many will enjoy it for its primary youthful appeal.
Winemaking:
McLaren Vale provides good climate for Chardonnay and growing conditions were ideal. We have it harvested while the acidity is still vibrant and sugar level not too high to retain elegance. Some flavoursome pressings were re-incorporated into the free run and the wine fermented with a neutral yeast. The French oak used provides a subtle background to the fruit, while maturation on lees has helped provide the persistence of flavour. We have elected to make a dry style.
Background:
Roses are synonymous with the Hamilton family with rose gardens surrounding our vineyards in McLaren Vale. The Rosette series proudly celebrates the family’s long standing in the South Australian wine industry since 1837.
Vintage Conditions:
2023 provided a cool season allowing slow ripening with moderate sugar levels, providing an elegant version of the McLaren Vale style. Winter rains provided the vines with good soil moisture for spring growth. Cool and windy conditions at flowering reduced fruitfulness and the resulting yields were much lower than average. Although December to February period was dry, temperatures were moderate, with no extremes. Cool conditions continued through March delaying harvest. The vintage produced fine styles of wine with great elegance and finesse.
